LED tube lights are long, linear lamps designed to operate in traditional fluorescent fixtures. The number after the letter “T” indicates the diameter of the tube, in eighths of an inch. A T8 lamp, therefore, has a diameter of 8 eighths of an inch (8/8 inch), or exactly 1 inch. It is often used in office lighting because the long tube designs cover large areas.
